According to the source, Routt restructured his deal by reallocating the majority of his $10 million base salary this year and tying it to a roster bonus and tacking on two years to the deal at the same salary as his scheduled 2013 compensation of $11.5 million.
Routt's deal allows the Raiders to improve their salary cap situation. The Raiders also restructured defensive end Richard Seymour's deal, allowing them to sign tight end Kevin Boss to a four-year, $16 million deal.
FRIDAY
Chargers re-sign Malcom Floyd
The San Diego Chargers held onto 6-foot-5, 225-pound wide receiver Malcom Floyd, retaining the free agent with a two-year contract.

From one former Michigan man to another, Jim Harbaugh is asking Braylon Edwards to grow up and be accountable for his actions. Like they were taught in Ann Arbor.
Edwards is asking for a chance to contribute with the 49ers under Harbaugh.
San Francisco signed the wideout to a $3.5 million, one-year contract Thursday, and he joined his new team on the practice field for the first time — albeit a little late and wearing No. 81, the number formerly worn by Terrell Owens.
''Listen here, that number's temporary,'' declared Edwards, who has worn No. 17. ''I'm not trying to be known as the next him.''
TE Scaife to visit Bengals, Rams
Veteran tight end Bo Scaife, a former Tennessee Titans franchise player, is scheduled to visit the Cincinnati Bengals and the St. Louis Rams, according to a league source with a knowledge of the situation.

Scout.com: New details on Hali's contract
It wasn’t an easy contract for Kansas City Chiefs General Manager Scott Pioli to get done, but it’s over.
In the new five-year deal, linebacker Tamba Hali will get $35 million guaranteed from the Kansas City Chiefs. Should he play all five years, hit incentives and receive roster and workout bonuses, the contract has a maximum value of $60 million. The new deal was first reported by the Kansas City Star late Wednesday evening.
Hali is a vital part of the Chiefs defense. With pass rushers at a premium in the NFL, his signing should show Chiefs fans that the organization is serious about re-shaping their defense for the long haul.
AP source: Cowboys sign safety
Free agent safety Abram Elam has agreed to a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys.
Elam will get $2.5 million for one season, a person familiar with the negotiations tells The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the team has not announced the deal.
The deal Thursday comes a day after unrestricted free agent safety Gerald Sensabaugh got a similar contract to remain with the Cowboys.
WEDNESDAY
Report: DE Hali agrees with Chiefs
A person familiar with the deal tells The Associated Press that top pass rusher Tamba Hali and the Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms on a five-year deal worth $60 million.
The person, who spoke late Wednesday on condition of anonymity because no announcement had been made, said $35 million of the contract is guaranteed. The person also said that Hali will be at training camp Thursday afternoon on the campus of Missouri Western State University.
Hali had been designated as the Chiefs' franchise player after a breakthrough season in which he led the AFC with 14 1/2 sacks. His new contract places him in the same echelon as Cowboys pass rusher DeMarcus Ware, who has a six-year, $78 million deal.
Scout.com: Vikings re-sign O-lineman
The Vikings re-signed offensive lineman Ryan Cook to a two-year deal Wednesday. The team had a roster spot available after releasing Bryant McKinnie on Tuesday, so no additional roster move was necessary to create space.
Despite the release of McKinnie, don't expect Cook to see much time at tackle. He told Viking Update in a text that the team was looking at him initially for "more interior positions." He arrived in Mankato Wednesday evening.

Le'Ron McClain is a Chief
The Kansas City Chiefs have acquired former Baltimore Ravens Pro Bowl fullback Le'Ron McClain, agreeing to terms on a one-year deal.
Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli did a lot of research on McClain throughout the process, talking to his contacts in Baltimore at McClain's alma mater, the University of Alabama, and to scouting colleagues around the league.
McClain rushed for a career-high 902 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2008, but his workload was reduced as far as touching the football over the past two seasons.

Colts add DT Tommie Harris
The Indianapolis Colts have altered this year's game plan.
After sticking to the traditional strategy of keeping their own players, the Colts have surprisingly emerged as a major player in free agency.
Since Monday, they've signed three former first-round draft picks — defensive lineman Jamaal Anderson, linebacker Ernie Sims and now defensive tackle Tommie Harris — along with their own first-round pick, left tackle Anthony Castonzo. They may not be done, either.

Houston finds their fullback
After letting Pro Bowl fullback Vonta Leach defect to the Baltimore Ravens rather than pay him his $11 million asking price, the Houston Texans have replaced him with a less expensive option.

Cowboys re-sign safety
Unrestricted free agent Gerald Sensabaugh is returning to the Dallas Cowboys to fill one of their safety spots.
On his Twitter account, Sensabaugh wrote that he was ''Headed back to the Big D'' and was on his way Wednesday to training camp. A story on the team's website said Sensabaugh got a $2.5 million, one-year contract.
Dallas lost out last week in its pursuit of free agent safety Nnamdi Asomugha, who took a $60 million, five-year deal from NFC East rival Philadelphia.
Raiders sign offensive lineman
Needing to add depth along the offensive line, the Oakland Raiders took care of some business late Tuesday night.
The Raiders announced that they have re-signed center Samson Satele, signing offensive guard Justin Smiley and offensive tackles Seth Wand and Stephon Heyer.
Satele is a former Miami Dolphins second-round draft pick who has started 27 of 31 games for the Raiders since being acquired via a trade.
Titans re-sign guard, keep O-line intact
The Tennessee Titans always prided themselves on having a strong offensive line when Mike Munchak coached the group.
Nothing has changed now that he is the head coach.
The Hall of Fame offensive lineman hired close friend Bruce Matthews, also a Hall of Famer, to replace him. Then the Titans re-signed left guard Leroy Harris to make sure all five starters returned intact to block again for Chris Johnson.
Lions LB cut; Team denies neck issues
While Zack Follett has tweeted his good-bye to the Lions, pass-rush specialist Cliff Avril is on the brink of quietly reporting to training camp for Thursday’s first full-squad practice.
Follett’s departure is making more noise than Avril’s arrival, though.
Follett announced it on his Twitter account before the Lions confirmed it Wednesday. His tweets included the following:

Zach Miller to Seahawks
Pete Carroll believes he got the deep threat wide receiver he needed in Sidney Rice and burly veteran presence needed on the offensive line with Robert Gallery.
Now he's grabbed the top pass-catching tight end on the free agent market.
The Seahawks announced Tuesday afternoon they had reached agreement on a reported five-year deal with Pro Bowl tight end Zach Miller. Terms of the deal were not announced by the team.
Bengals finally able to bolster line
The Bengals have signed free agent guard Max Jean-Gillis to a one-year deal, the second time they've tried to add depth to their line in the past few days.
Jean-Gillis played for Philadelphia the past four seasons. He was a fourth-round draft pick and started 26 games in his career, including 10 last season. He signed his deal on Tuesday night and will be able to practice with the team on Thursday.
Jean-Gillis became a backup plan when guard Deuce Lutui failed his physical. The Bengals had reached agreement on a two-year deal with Lutui, but he came to camp weighing more than expected. Latui ended up staying with Arizona on a one-year deal.

Scout.com: CB rejoins Redskins
Veteran cornerback Phillip Buchanon has rejoined the Washington Redskins, his second stint with the NFC East club.
Buchanon made the announcement on his Twitter account.
Following practice today, though, Redskins coach Mike Shanahan announced that Buchanon is suspended for the first four games of the regular season. So, he can only practice and play in preseason games before having to serve his NFL punishment.
Colts add LB Sims to 1-year deal
Indianapolis has signed free agent linebacker Ernie Sims, the second former first-round draft pick to join the Colts in less than 24 hours.
Sims' agent, Todd France, says the deal is for one year. He did not provide financial details.
For the Colts, this represents a signing frenzy. On Monday night, they picked up defensive lineman Jamaal Anderson, Atlanta's first-round pick in 2007. Sims was Detroit's first-round pick in 2006. Indy has only one other unrestricted free agent on the roster, kicker Adam Vinatieri.
MONDAY
Colts, Anderson agree to terms
Former first-round draft pick Jamaal Anderson has agreed to terms with the Indianapolis Colts and is expected to arrive at training camp Tuesday.
Agent Joel Segal confirmed the deal, but would not disclose terms of the contract.
The Atlanta Falcons took the 6-foot-6, 289-pound defensive lineman with the No. 8 overall selection in 2007. But the Arkansas alum never lived up to expectations. In 47 career starts, he had 83 tackles and 4 1/2 career sacks.

A Patriots spokesman did not respond to an inquiry about Light.
A three-time Pro Bowl selection, Light has been protecting Tom Brady's blind side for 10 years. He started every game last season at left tackle. The Patriots drafted a tackle, Nate Solder, with their first pick in this year's draft.
SUNDAY

Cromartie, acquired last offseason from San Diego, was solid for New York opposite Darrelle Revis, finishing with 42 tackles and three interceptions.
The New York Post reported the deal is worth $32 million, according to a source.
Report: Eagles star to end holdout
Star Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson plans to end his holdout for a new contract, WPVI-TV reported Sunday, citing a source.
Jackson failed to show up at the team's training camp Thursday, officially starting his holdout, and so far has missed the first four days of camp. But the source said the 24-year-old was planning to report for the first time on Monday or Tuesday.
The speedy two-time Pro Bowl player is entering the final year of a four-year contract, and it is no secret he wants a new deal.
McBride agrees to terms with Saints
Free agent defensive end Turk McBride has agreed to contract terms with the New Orleans Saints, adding depth at a position where the Saints may need it in the beginning of the season.

Raiders re-sign free safety Huff
The Oakland Raiders are bringing back another of their free agents, completing a deal with free safety Michael Huff.

Broncos sign RB McGahee
New Broncos coach John Fox used a two running back system during his later days in Carolina, with DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart sharing the backfield duties.
Now he can try it in Denver, as the Broncos have signed Willis McGahee to a free-agent contract to join incumbent starter Knowshon Moreno.
The styles of Moreno and McGahee make it unlikely that the Broncos will have the speed-power combo that Fox's Panthers had. Instead, Fox will find out this training camp whether he has a pair of workhorses.
Jags Pro Bowl TE ending holdout
Pro Bowl tight end Marcedes Lewis is ending his brief holdout with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Although he still doesn't have a long-term contract, Lewis said on his Twitter page Sunday that he is returning to the team after missing the first five days of training camp.
''Though my contract is still being negotiated, I'm headed back to jax today! need to be with my team! Its been entirely too long,'' Lewis tweeted.

The Bengals have agreed on a one-year deal with running back Cedric Benson, who was an unrestricted free agent but wanted to stay in Cincinnati.

Benson was arrested in July on a misdemeanor charge of assaulting his former roommate in Texas. He could face discipline from Commissioner Roger Goodell.
The Bengals need a dependable running game as they transition to rookie quarterback Andy Dalton and an inexperienced group of receivers.

Blalock stays with Falcons
Justin Blalock has been a steady contributor for the Falcons’ offensive line and now has been graciously rewarded.

Blalock, who has started every game for the Falcons in his tenure, is one of the key pieces to the intricate offense.
Atlanta was unable to keep the offensive line fully intact this offseason. Last week, Harvey Dahl agreed to terms with the St. Louis Rams, which made the re-signing of Blalock very important to Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff.

Bears moving on without Kreutz
Olin Kreutz's 13-year run in Chicago is over after the Bears agreed to a two-year contract with former Seattle Seahawks center Chris Spencer on Sunday.
A six-time Pro Bowl pick, Kreutz still was an emotional leader and an important piece for a team coming off a run to the NFC championship game even if he was no longer at his peak.
He had backed off his request for a multiyear contract and was willing to take a one-year deal. Even so, the two sides couldn't reach an agreement.
RB Kuhn, WR Jones agree to terms
Wide receiver James Jones and running back John Kuhn both will be back with the Green Bay Packers.

Colts re-sign Addai
Now that the Indianapolis Colts have struck a five-year, $90 million with star quarterback Peyton Manning, they have the necessary salary cap room to retain other players.
That included holding onto running back Joseph Addai, their versatile former first-round draft pick from LSU.
Addai has rushed for 4,020 yards in five NFL seasons, but slumped to a career-worst 495 yards last season due to a nerve issue in his left shoulder.
Todd Heap to Arizona
Tight end Todd Heap became the latest Baltimore Ravens starter to leave the organization, agreeing to a two-year deal to play for his hometown Arizona Cardinals.

Vonta Leach to Baltimore
The Baltimore Ravens have filled their fullback void, hammering out a three-year, $11 million contract with Pro Bowl fullback Vonta Leach.
The contract includes a $4 million bonus and a total of $6 million in guaranteed money.
"I'm happy to be a Raven, I can't wait to get up there," Leach said in a telephone interview. "I'm ready to go." Leach is one of the top lead blockers in the game, clearing pathways for NFL rushing champion Arian Foster last year. "Your mentality has to be that every play is a car crash collision," Leach said. Burress stays in NY, signs with Jets
Plaxico Burress is back in the Big Apple — with the New York Jets.
The former Super Bowl star with the Giants, recently released from prison after serving 20 months on a gun charge, reached an agreement in principle Sunday on a one-year deal with the Jets.
Burress, who turns 34 on Aug. 12, caught the game-winning touchdown in the Giants' upset of the unbeaten New England Patriots in the 2008 Super Bowl, before his career derailed after he accidentally shot himself in a New York nightclub in 2009.
Report: WR Edwards says he's gone from Jets
The New York Jets will not be re-signing wide receiver Braylon Edwards because of financial constraints, the New York Daily News reported Saturday, citing a source.
On Wednesday, the Jets agreed with Santonio Holmes on a five-year deal reportedly worth $50 million, which Edwards knew was not a good sign for him. He said later that same day that while he wanted to return to the Jets, he was afraid they did not want him.
"I would love to be a Jet but the feeling doesn't seem to be mutual with the management," he wrote on Twitter.
The Jets will reportedly now shift their focus to re-signing cornerback Antonio Cromartie after they missed out in the race for Nnamdi Asomugha, who signed with the Eagles.
