Larry Kelm, ex-A&M, NFL linebacker, dies at 49

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) Larry Kelm, a linebacker on Texas A&M's Wrecking Crew defense who went on to play in the NFL, has died. He was 49.

The university said Monday he died this weekend in an accident while hunting. No other details were given.

Kelm was a linebacker for the Aggies from 1983-86. He was drafted in the fourth round in 1987 and played with the Los Angeles Rams from 1987-92. He finished his career with the San Francisco 49ers in 1993.

Former Texas A&M coach R.C. Slocum tweeted: ''Heartbroken today over tragic death of my former linebacker and dear friend Larry Kelm.'' He then tweeted a picture of the two of them golfing at Pebble Beach.

The funeral is Dec. 1 in The Woodlands, Texas.
