Justin Tuck inactive against Redskins

Published Sep. 11, 2011 1:00 a.m. ET

Defensive end Justin Tuck was inactive for the New York Giants on Sunday, another blow for a short-handed defense as it faced the Washington Redskins in the season opener.

Tuck missed most of practice last week with a lingering neck injury.

Defensive end Osi Umemyiora had previously been ruled out with a knee injury, as had rookie cornerback Prince Amukamara, who has a broken foot. Linebacker Jonathan Goff was placed on injured reserve Saturday with a torn knee ligament.

Tight end Travis Beckum, who left practice early Friday when his right hamstring tightened, was also on the inactive list.
