Jimmy Garoppolo Throws First Touchdown for Patriots in 2016 (Video)
Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has taken the reins with the New England Patriots as he threw his first ever NFL touchdown pass in Week 1.
It’s not easy to be quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. For the past two years now, he’s been learning as much as he can from future Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady. Garoppolo knew his time will eventually come, but not as soon as this season.
Due to Brady being suspended by the NFL due to his role in DeflateGate, at least for the next four weeks of the regular season, Garoppolo will get his first action as the starter under center. It’s not easy to fill the void left by Brady but right off the bat, Garoppolo hit a beautiful touchdown pass to wide receiver Chris Hogan for his first touchdown of the 2016 season and only the second of his career. :

It was a sight that proves, at least for now, fans of the Patriots can breathe a sigh of relief that everything will be just fine until Brady’s return. Garoppolo comes with a lot of potential that he can be the successor to Brady once he decides to call it a career.
If Garoppolo starts off red hot during this four-game stretch that Brady is suspended, he’ll be benched come Week 5. Head coach Bill Belichick has already confirmed that Brady will immediately become their starter once eligible.
Overall, Garoppolo by all accounts will more than likely have a bright future with the Patriots. At least for now, he’s already got his first NFL touchdown out of the way.
