Jim Tomsula: Reggie Bush has been 'a wonderful addition'

Reggie Bush has received nothing but praise since signing as a free agent with the San Francisco 49ers this offseason. That praise has only magnified since the 49ers have been on the field for OTAs and minicamp.

"He has a lot of energy in his legs and in his body and his attitude," coach Jim Tomsula told reporters at the team’s veteran minicamp, via 49ers.com. "What a wonderful addition in all aspects."

Bush will help replace one of the 49ers all-time fan favorite players in Frank Gore. Offensive Coordinator Geep Chryst knows it will be an adjustment for fans to not see Gore out there, but believes Bush will help ease that pain.

“That’s probably going to be the No. 1 thing for fans, to look at the Niners and not see No. 21, Frank Gore, in there,” Chryst said. “But Reggie’s been a really nice addition. I think he’s really happy here. He’s around a lot with a smile on his face and that adds to the chemistry.”

Despite Bush being in his 10th NFL season, the passion and dedication to the game remains. He continues to play with a lot of energy and is being a leader on the field.

“I think he’s got a lot of really good football left in him,” Chryst said. “I would say that’s the No. 1 thing, just how energetic, how conditioned and how eager he is to take practice reps. That’s a great thing. We’re coaches, we like practice. I actually get the sense that he likes practice, too.

“We’ve enjoyed him. We have a nice feel for what Reggie can do.”

Bush is excited for the season to get started after an injury filled 2014 season. Bush knows the opportunities will be there for him on the field.

“There’s so much opportunity in this offense for me to be able and go out and showcase my talents,” Bush said. “They’re using me all over the place, including special teams. I’m just excited at the challenge. I think it’s going to be a fun season.”
