Jets sit McElroy; Tim Tebow active against Titans
Tim Tebow is active as the backup quarterback for the New York Jets, with Greg McElroy inactive for Monday night's game against the Tennessee Titans.
Tebow did not play in two recent games and was inactive for a third as he recovered from two broken ribs. The Jets also deactivated injured tight end Dustin Keller and receiver Stephen Hill, who did not travel with the team to Nashville.
New York sat linebacker Bryan Thomas with a strained pectoral muscle and cornerback Aaron Berry with an injured hamstring.
Jeff Cumberland will start for Keller, Chaz Schilens for Hill and Garrett McIntyre for Thomas.
The Titans already had declared linebacker Colin McCarthy out for a third straight game as he recovers from a concussion. Tennessee receiver Damian Williams (hamstring) also was inactive.
