KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) Jets quarterback Geno Smith was inactive for Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs, and Matt Simms has been promoted from the practice squad to back up starter Michael Vick.

Smith lost his starting job to Vick this week. He hurt his right shoulder in last week's loss to Buffalo, and had been listed as questionable on the injury report.

Jets cornerback Darrin Walls was also inactive with calf and knee injuries.

Pro Bowl safety Eric Berry was active for the Chiefs for the first time since Week 2, when he sustained a high ankle sprain in a loss to Denver.
