Jets promote center from practice squad with Nick Mangold (neck) sore

After he left Sunday's game with a neck injury, the New York Jets were unsure when they would get their starting center, Nick Mangold back. The Jets breathed a sigh of relief on Monday, though, when Mangold's X-rays came back negative.
While it was certainly good news, Mangold still may not be able to go on Sunday against the Oakland Raiders. In wake of his injury, the Jets promoted center Wesley Johnson from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of Week 9, indicating that Mangold may not be ready to go.
Dakota Dozier replaced Mangold late in the game after he suffered the injury and is likely to be the start if Mangold is out Sunday, with Johnson being there for depth. Johnson, a sixth-round pick in 2014, played center in the preseason for the Jets, but he failed to make the 53-man roster out of training camp.
