Jets make brilliant move with Austin Seferian-Jenkins
The New York Jets made a brilliant move with the acquisition of tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins. It’s a risk worth taking considering his past and now opportunity to get on the right track.
When the New York Jets announced they claimed tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins off of waiver wires, it undoubtedly sent mixed feelings across the fan base. It’s easy to get excited since he would finally bring better production from the tight end position. On the other hand, he does have a history of off-the-field problems and has been considered to be a locker room cancer.
The good news is, the current leadership regime of the Jets is a high-quality one. They can get the most out of their players, even if they need some guidance and help to get through their demons. It’s no secret that head coach Todd Bowles can get through to any player with his quiet yet strict demeanor.

Seferian-Jenkins is entering a very good situation with the Jets as far as getting a golden opportunity to put his career back in the right direction. The Jets needed a quality tight end that could finally add a nice dimension on offense, especially in the red zone.
This move should give offensive coordinator Chan Gailey some motivation to finally incorporate some passing plays featuring Seferian-Jenkins. Especially since it can’t get any worse than what he called against the Kansas City Chiefs.

This is the kind of move that should help the Jets forget about that disaster of a game and move forward to Week 4 against the Seattle Seahawks.
So far in his career, Seferian-Jenkins has totaled 603 receiving yards, 45 receptions, and 7 touchdowns.
While the Jets suffered an embarrassing loss to the Chiefs with the final score being 24-3, it’s just one game at the end of the day.
The truth of the matter is, the Jets are 1-2 and have plenty of football left to be played.
A move like this helps bring a solution to the problems at hand, not hit the panic button and assume the season will be over just three weeks in.
Overall, this is a solid move by the Jets since Seferian-Jenkins can help them out big time on offense and they can help him conquer his off-the-field problems. It’s best to give him the benefit of the doubt and of course, a clean slate as he’s now a part of Jets Nation. Hopefully, everything works out since he has the potential to be a great difference-maker on offense.
