Jets' Geno Smith throws first two picks of camp Monday, both returned for TDs

Geno Smith, the guy who's thrown 34 interceptions over the past two seasons, threw his first interception of training camp on Monday. That marked the end of a nine-practice streak without a pick, which of course is impressive by any quarterback's standards.

Unfortunately, Smith threw a second interception in the same practice, both of which were returned for touchdowns. One was picked by Darrelle Revis -- his first of camp -- and the other was intercepted by Marcus Williams.

The streak was so surprising to head coach Todd Bowles that he didn't know if his defensive backs could catch. According to Rich Cimini of ESPN, Smith completed just 15 of 26 passes and was sacked twice.

"I was starting to think they couldn't catch," Bowles said via ESPN.

Smith was listed as the No. 1 quarterback on the depth chart before breaking his jaw in a locker room incident on Tuesday. Unfortunately, he'll be sidelined for six to 10 weeks leaving Ryan Fitzpatrick as the incumbent starter.

Smith had been playing well in training camp, which makes his injury even more detrimental to the Jets.
