Jason Licht's recent comments make RB picture even more confusing

It seems that the situation at running back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers gets cloudier and cloudier as the days go on. Not long after rumors that Charles Sims was set to be the featured back and that Doug Martin was on his way out the door, there's been a complete 180 on Martin, according to Gil Arcia of The Bay Cave.

The news came when general manager Jason Licht joined NBC Sports Radio's Under Center late last week, as Arcia explains.

"When co-host Donovan McNabb asked Licht if the running back spot was Martin’s to lose, Licht said it was, but with a catch."

“It is (Martin’s job to lose),” said Licht. “But we’re going to take a little bit of a running back by committee and I think that’s how you have to do it. Charles Sims, to come back here for OTAs, is picking up where he left off and he is a very explosive athlete with great hands and Doug has never looked better.”

Apparently, Licht isn't the only one who remains high on Martin either.

"[Dirk Koetter] really likes Doug Martin and that was one of the first things he talked about when he looked at our tape. When he got the job he said ‘I think Doug Martin is going to be a very pivotal player in this offense.'”

Well, there you have it. Maybe Martin's time in Tampa isn't coming to a close like originally expected.
