Jared Lorenzen lets Jets know he's ready to be their QB

The Jets are in need of quarterback help now that Geno Smith is expected to be out 6-10 weeks with a broken jaw after being sucker-punched by former teammate IK Enemkpali. New York has already reportedly reached out to Rex Grossman, and another option let his availability be known to the team through social media.

Jared Lorenzen, who spent some time in the NFL with the Giants, took the opportunity to tweet the Jets letting them know he’d be willing to suit up for some snaps. And, as an added bonus, he reminded everyone how great he looks in green.

OK, so Northern Kentucky River Monsters green isn’t exactly New York Jets green, but we get the idea.

Late last year, when the Cardinals were down to their third-string quarterback, Lorenzen offered his services to them in a series of great tweets. Unfortunately, nothing came of it. But you never know unless you take a shot, right? Maybe Lorenzen will have better luck this time. Perhaps he should’ve included a highlight reel in his tweet like LaVance Taylor did.

Lorenzen admitted he ws joking on Jason Smith's radio show Tuesday night, saying he would talk new coach Todd Bowles out of it.

"There's no way I can get on the field right now and play in the NFL," Lorenzen told Smith.
