JAGUARS NOTEBOOK;Ankle keeps LB Durant out

Published Oct. 12, 2010 10:18 p.m. ET

The Jaguars declared linebacker Justin Durant out for Sunday's game in Buffalo, running back Rashad Jennings and safety Sean Considine doubtful and running back Maurice Jones-Drew and guard Justin Smiley as probable.

Jones-Drew participated fully in practices Thursday and Friday after skipping practice Wednesday.

He suffered what he called a slight ankle sprain against the Indianapolis Colts.

Durant will miss his third consecutive game. He suffered a high ankle sprain against the San Diego Chargers in Week 2. Durant had hoped to practice this week and participated in some drills Wednesday but did not practice Thursday or Friday.

Considine injured his hamstring against the Philadelphia Eagles and missed last Sunday's game against the Colts. Jennings injured his shoulder against the Colts.

BILLS INJURY UPDATE

Former Jaguars defensive lineman Marcus Stroud is probable to play against the Jaguars on Sunday.

Stroud was limited in practice Wednesday but practiced fully Thursday and Friday.

Bills linebacker Andra Davis is probable with a shoulder injury.

Linebacker Keith Ellison (knee), cornerback Terrence McGee (back), linebacker Arthur Moats (elbow) and safety Bryan Scott (knee) were all declared out after missing the week's practice.

Tight end Shawn Nelson (groin) and cornerback Ashton Youboty (hamstring) are both questionable.

BLACK HELPS OUT

Jaguars offensive lineman Jordan Black checked in at tight end frequently last Sunday to help block against a Colts defensive line that included Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis.

"I think one of the things that it does is it confuses defenses," Black said. "Defenses aren't ready to adjust to an extra offensive lineman. It also gives them something to spend time on during the week to just take up time when preparing for us."

Black had checked in at tight end from time to time last season.

BUFFALO BLACKOUT

The Bills announced a local blackout of Sunday's game. It marked Buffalo's first blackout in 27 games.

The Bills reportedly started the week with 12,000 tickets to sell to avoid the blackout.

While Jacksonville has not had a home blackout yet this season, both road regular-season games and one preseason game in Tampa were blacked out.

When the San Diego Chargers announced that their game against the Jaguars had been blacked out, the club sold 5,000 tickets between the Thursday blackout announcement and game time.

MEMORY LANE FOR FITZPATRICK

Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has already beat the Jaguars once. He was the quarterback in Cincinnati in 2008 when the Jaguars lost 21-19.

"Yeah, I mean, it was a win," Fitzpatrick said. "At that point in Cincinnati, we were struggling and trying to get on the right track. I know we came out fast in that game and got a lead and played well. Just not particularly because it was against the Jaguars, but a game I remember because it was a win."

That was the first win for Cincinnati that season after they started 0-8.

The Bengals finished the season 4-11-1. Fitzpatrick threw two touchdown passes to Chad Ochocinco (whose name was still Chad Johnson) and Cedric Benson ran for another touchdown.
