Jack Del Rio Bets on Black...Again

Do the Oakland Raiders have a mantra? Maybe not. Well, maybe not officially.

Chargers run out of juice in Oakland. The Raiders beat a battered bunch of Bolts by 3 in comeback victory — another nerve wrecking last minute “What the **** Jack?” victory.

Who are these guys?

It’s become cliche. “We’re building a bully” or “We’re going to come out and play hard-nosed football” or “play fast, be physical”…whatever. Every team seems to have a mantra,  a saying or some load of….something that they want to be known by.

Jack Del Rio, Derek Carr and the 2016 Oakland Raiders don’t. Well, not exactly.

They’ve won four of five games to start the season for the first time since a Super Bowl run more than a decade ago. They’ve won four games by a total of twelve points, and after being down in the 4th quarter in just about all of those games.

None of this seems to matter to cool as all hell “Jack Del Frio”.

“Go for it” — I guess that’s the mantra of this team.

4th down?  Go for it.

Tie the game? Nah, go for it.

56-yard field goal? Screw it, why not.

Del Rio is taking the whole Vegas Raiders thing to heart, it seems. Gamble after gamble he tosses his loaded dice on the table, and comes up “4” every time.

Derek Chri….Carr has caught on, and he’s adopted the same mentality.

4th & 2 slant to moves the sticks and stay in the game? Nah, chuck it deep to Crab — he’ll get it.

Hook slide? Nah, let’s front-flip for the first down. Just go for it.

The defense is getting it, too. 4th quarter, 4-wide, Cover 4? Nope, let’s blitz. Blitz who? Everybody.

Look, it’s almost becoming predictable to know we are going to do the unpredictable. But so what. We’re gonna go for it anyway.
