Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Isaac Redman is officially retiring, according to a statement he posted on his Twitter account on Friday.

Redman said he was advised by Dr. Robert Watkins — known for working with Peyton Manning among others — to not play football due to an injury to his spinal cord.

Redman joins David Wilson, Jonathan Franklin and DeVonte Hollowman as players forced to call it quits this offseason due to neck injuries.

Redman, 29, rushed for 1,148 yards in five seasons with Pittsburgh (2009-13) and was cut after three games last season.
