Matthew Stafford suffered an injury to his middle finger in the first half of last week’s win over the Bears, forcing him to finish the game with a glove on his throwing hand. He’s practiced all week and acknowledged that it will impact his play, but the Lions are doing everything possible to minimize the effect of the injury.

During practice, he’s experimented with custom gloves, from the no-finger rendition (John Bender-style) to one with just his injured finger protected. He seems to have settled on the one-finger glove for Sunday’s pivotal game, and here’s what it looks like.

It’s certainly interesting, if nothing else. But the most important thing is that it protects his finger and prevents further damage.

The Lions can’t afford to lose Stafford for the final stretch, considering they’re currently leading the NFC North and can get into the postseason with a few more victories.
