NFL investigators were in Wichita on the same day a hearing had been scheduled on a protection from abuse order sought against Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle.

But Thursday's civil hearing on the protection order was delayed until March 12.

Wichita Police Lt. James Espinoza said he talked Thursday with NFL investigators. All they got was publicly available information, such as the police report, he said.

The NFL reiterated it was ''reviewing the matter.''

''All I know is what I read ... that they were going to be active in investigating all these things and no one has ever attempted to contact myself or my client from the NFL,'' said Charlie O'Hara, the attorney representing Randle's former girlfriend.

Randle was arrested Feb. 3 on the drug charge at a hotel in Wichita after the 22-year-old mother of his child called 911 to report a domestic disturbance. Dalia Jacobs told police he brandished a gun and broke a car window during the altercation at a Wichita hotel. She filed for a protective order the next day, claiming Randle pointed a gun at a vehicle with their son and Jacobs' friend inside.

His attorney, Gary Ayers, has said that Randle believes Jacobs' allegations ''have no merit.'' The Dallas running back denies he threatened his former girlfriend or pulled a gun during an incident that led to his arrest on a marijuana possession charge that was later dropped.

League announced a revised personal conduct policy in December that included plans to investigate cases of domestic abuse. The league said it would hire someone to oversee those investigations, but hasn't announced a hiring.

The Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office plans to meet with police investigators Friday to consider whether to file criminal charges.
