Griffin active for Redskins

Published Nov. 2, 2014 12:35 p.m. ET

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Robert Griffin III is active and back in the starting lineup for the Washington Redskins against the Minnesota Vikings.

Griffin missed more than six games with a dislocated left ankle, but returned to practice this week and supplanted Colt McCoy as the team's starter. McCoy led the Redskins to victories over Tennessee and Dallas, but coach Jay Gruden said on Friday that he would go back to Griffin now that he is ready to go.

Cornerback Bashaud Breeland is also active for Washington after missing two days of practice and being listed as questionable with a knee injury.

The Vikings deactivated rookie defensive backs Antone Exum and Jabari Price after both have struggled with penalties on special teams.
