Green Bay Packers News: DT Mike Pennel suspended for four games
Christine Michael could see more of the ball entering Week 14, but the Green Bay Packers will be without Mike Pennel for four games due to another suspension.
Yet another suspension for Pennel could put his future with the team in doubt. Another Packer whose future remains uncertain is James Starks, who could see reduced playing time with Christine Michael and Ty Montgomery outplaying him last week.
Starks’ stock is falling, Montgomery’s rising in Ralph Mancini’s Week 14 stock report. The keys to the backfield should be handed to Montgomery, as I wrote in Monday’s “Packer Perspective” column.
Let’s get started. Here’s the top Packers content from around the internet.
Packers’ defense draws line in the snow — Eric Goska of Packersnews.com
Say what you want about the Houston offense, but Green Bay’s first half shutout was impressive on Sunday. It was an encouraging sign for a defense that has been blown away on more than one occasion this season. Let’s hope the Packers build on this heading into a tough tilt with Seattle.
Packers Coaches Still Focusing on Getting Michael Involved — Zachary Jacobson of Cheesehead TV
James Starks’ snap count should, and likely will, decrease after yet another disappointing performance. Ty Montgomery will get his share of the touches, as he should, but Christine Michael could also be involved more.
Mike Pennel suspended 4 games, his 2nd suspension of 2016 — Rob Demovsky of ESPN
Mike Pennel missed the first four games of the season due to suspension, and now he’ll finish it with another. The defensive lineman’s future in Green Bay has to be up in the air following another ban. The Packers defensive line gets a little thinner.
If you haven’t seen it by now, check out FanSided’s Fandom 250 rankings. The Packers come in at No. 21, second among NFL teams.
