Giants re-sign long snapper Zak DeOssie
1/8EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) The New York Giants re-signed long-snapper Zak DeOssie on Wednesday.
A nine-year veteran and captain of New York's special teams, DeOssie ended last season on injured reserve with a wrist problem that required surgery. A fourth-round draft choice in 2007, DeOssie played in 149 consecutive regular-season and postseason games before getting hurt.
DeOssie and quarterback Eli Manning are the only two remaining players from the 2007 and 2011 NFL championship teams. He is the second-longest tenured Giants player behind Manning.
DeOssie was a Pro Bowler in 2008 and 2010.
In addition to snapping on both punts and place kicks, DeOssie has 71 career regular-season special teams tackles, plus seven in the postseason.
His father, Steve, played 12 seasons in the NFL, including almost five with the Giants.
