Giants HC Tom Coughlin: Jason Pierre-Paul hasn't responded to my texts

Published Jul. 30, 2015 9:25 a.m. ET

It has been nearly a month, and New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin has still not heard back from Jason Pierre-Paul. The old ball coach sent Pierre-Paul a text message immediately following his July 4th fireworks accident, and it read, ""How can I help you?"

Now, with training camp on the verge of getting underway, Coughlin is at a loss and he's not sure what move to make next.

"I want to help. I want to be there for him," Coughlin said to Jenny Vrentas of MMQB. "But he’s decided that he doesn’t want our help. He thinks that something will come of it. But, all I care about, all any of us care about, the whole organization, is the well-being of the kid."

Pierre-Paul is not expected to show up when the team opens up camp on Thursday. His future status is completely up in the air, and the Giants' organization remains in the dark.
