Free-agent WR Cordarrelle Patterson is campaigning for Vikings to re-sign him

Published Mar. 12, 2017 1:19 p.m. ET

Cordarrelle Patterson, a former first-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings, is on the open market and has been flying around the country visiting other teams. He’s certain to have several suitors out there, having already spoken with the Bears, Raiders and Redskins.

He didn’t leave any of those three cities with a contract, but it’s clear which team he wants to play for in 2017: the Vikings.

Patterson left no doubt about that on social media Saturday night, lobbying for the Vikings to bring him back. On Snapchat, as pointed out by ESPN, Patterson could be heard saying this:

"All I am hearing is stay with the Vikings. Trust me I want to! We all know business is business.”

General manager Rick Spielman was also brought up on Patterson’s Snapchat with the wide receiver wondering what he’s going to do when it comes to contract negotiations.

“What you gone do, Rick?" he asked.

Patterson has been a bit of a disappointment in Minnesota since the Vikings spent a first-round pick on him in 2013. He’s a reliable and electric return man, but as a wide receiver, he’s far from polished.

There are some who believe he’s better suited as a running back, making a transition similar to the one Ty Montgomery made with the Packers. That’s unlikely to happen in Minnesota, considering the Vikings never moved him to running back during his time with the team, but someone else may consider it.
