Four key players sit out at Jets practice Thursday
The New York Jets are preparing to be without four important players against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.
According to Darryl Slater of NJ.com, Center Nick Mangold, safety Calvin Pryor, and receivers Devin Smith and Chris Owusu were all sidelined at practice on Thursday, putting their status in doubt for this week's game.
Mangold suffered a neck injury against the New England Patriots on Sunday, while Pryor sprained his ankle in the game, too. It's the second consecutive day that neither player practiced and look doubtful to play Sunday, though Todd Bowles said it's conceivable that Mangold could play without practicing during the week.
As for Smith and Owusu, both receivers are also uncertain to play this week. Smith suffered an ankle injury in practice on Wednesday, while Owusu was diagnosed with the fifth concussion of his career against the Patriots.
Owusu is considered the No. 3 receiver for the Jets with the rookie Smith being a game-changing wideout as a deep threat. Being without both players would significantly hurt the Jets' receiving corps against the Raiders.
