Former Packers RB Ahman Green says Comic-Con better than NFL playoffs
Most NFL teams aim to make the playoffs each year. There's an excitement that's unique to postseason games, when the win-or-go-home mentality takes over and every snap is soaked in suspense. Pro football players live for playoff games, because there's nothing else like them.
Except Comic-Con, of course.
In a recent interview on CBS Sports Radio's The DA Show, former Green Bay Packers running back Ahman Green, who is a huge Batman fan, was asked what's more exciting: going to Comic-Con or playing in an NFL playoff game? His answer is sure to surprise some diehard football fans.
"Oh, my God, that’s a good question, man," Green said, via Yahoo! Sports. "I would have to say going to Comic-Con. I’m that much of a fan. I know the hard work and dedication, the blood sweat and tears and the pleasure of winning the game. I won a few playoff games and almost came to the Super Bowl a couple times in the playoff runs we had as Packers. But I think experiencing that with my family, we’ll be able to experience it every year and we don’t have to go through a first-round bye; we don’t have to worry about trying to get to the NFC Championship. We just got to buy a plane ticket. I think that experience is going to be No. 1 on my list because I get to experience it every year with my family."
The Packers made the playoffs four consecutive years during Green's first stint with the team (2001-2004), then once more when he came back in 2009. Twice, Green's Packers made it to the Divisional Round of the Playoffs, but they never made it to a Conference Championship.
Had Green's playoff runs with the Packers lasted a little longer, the retired running back may have answered that Comic-Con question very differently.
