Former 49er tight end pleads not guilty to assault charges

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) Authorities say former San Francisco 49ers tight end Bruce Miller has pleaded not guilty to seven felony charges stemming from a violent, drunken rampage that injured a 70-year-old man and his adult son.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported (http://bit.ly/2f1uPAY ) Wednesday that prosecutors allege the 29-year-old Miller attacked an adult family at a Fisherman's Wharf hotel on Sept. 5.

The team released Miller the same day.

The newspaper said Miller left court Wednesday without commenting.

Miller was charged with assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury, inflicting injury on an elder likely to cause great bodily injury and other counts. He remains free on $178,000 bail.
