Falcons coach: WR Julio Jones' calf injury not serious

Published Sep. 19, 2016 5:22 p.m. ET

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) Falcons coach Dan Quinn says All-Pro receiver Julio Jones had an MRI on his right calf but is expected to be full speed for next Monday's game at New Orleans.

Jones was hurt when cornerback Sean Smith and safety Reggie Nelson fell on him after a 20-yard catch in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 35-28 win at Oakland. He did not play on Atlanta's final possession.

Jones injured his left ankle in the third week of preseason. Quinn said he isn't concerned about his calf because ''it's not a recurring injury.''

Jones has nine catches for 172 yards and two touchdowns this year.

The Falcons (1-1) return to practice Thursday.
