Ex-Vikings CB Jefferson charged with assaulting girlfriend
Former Minnesota Vikings cornerback A.J. Jefferson has been charged with assaulting his girlfriend.
Hennepin County prosecutors charged Jefferson on Wednesday with one count of felony domestic assault by strangulation.
Jefferson is accused of assaulting his girlfriend at their Eden Prairie home Monday.
According to the complaint, Jefferson and his girlfriend began arguing after an evening out. Jefferson left and she went to sleep in the guest bedroom. The complaint says she awoke to Jefferson yelling at her for ignoring his text messages, and he grabbed her neck.
The Vikings released Jefferson a few hours after his arrest. He remains in jail and is due in court Monday.
Online court records do not list a defense attorney. Jefferson's agent did not immediately return a phone message and an email.
