Drew Brees: Team loved Rob Ryan, but confidence high in Dennis Allen

While the New Orleans Saints are moving on to their next stage of the 2015 season, one that will feature a new defensive coordinator, it's obviously featuring mixed emotions for many players.

While Rob Ryan was liked by players, the popular consensus seems to be that the players are confident in Dennis Allen. According to Mike Triplett of ESPN, that specifically includes Drew Brees.

"Anytime there’s a change midseason, whether it’s a coach or players at different positions or whatever it might be, I’ve been a part of many teams where something like this tends to shake things up. I know this, whatever is done is in the best interest of our team and the success of the team," Brees said while appearing on Tuesday’s "Black and Blue Report" on the Saints' website.

"To a man, everyone loved Rob Ryan. And loved the passion and the energy, the enthusiasm, everything he brought to our team. And unfortunately he’s not here anymore," Brees continued. "And I think everybody has a ton of confidence in (replacement) Dennis Allen. And this is a time in the bye week where we’re getting some guys healthy that haven’t been healthy in a while.

After a tough first 10 games of the season, it was obvious that something had to be changed defensively. Will Allen be able to turn things around overnight? No, probably not. The hope still remains high, though that he'll be able to at least get things trending in the right direction.
