Did DeMarco Murray actually meet with the Eagles team owner?

Published Dec. 9, 2015 11:21 a.m. ET

News of DeMarco Murray having a meeting with Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffery Lurie following his lack of playing time against the New England Patriots spewed across the web all throughout Tuesday.

But did it actually happen?

According to Buffalo Bills beat writer Sal Capaccio, that meeting may have been absolutely harmless, as Eagles head coach Chip Kelly made it a little more clear.

It's still technically some form of meeting, but it doesn't paint the picture of Murray kicking down Lurie's office door and screaming until the veins in his neck burst, which may or may not have been the general idea everyone got from the story just yesterday.

Still, Murray is most likely, and understandably, upset. This is a guy who led the NFL in his time with the Cowboys just last year with an astounding 392 carries. He had a league-leading 1845 yards and 13 touchdowns. He was averaging 115.3 yards per carry behind a strong Dallas offensive line, and was supposed to continue that production with another strong offensive line in Philadelphia after signing a five-year, $40 million contract this offseason.

Now, he's lucky if he's on the field for 18 offensive plays a game. This is an All-Pro player, a two-time Pro Bowler, in the heart of his prime years at the ripe age of 27.

So maybe a meeting didn't happen with Lurie. But maybe Murray has to meet with someone to clear his head a bit. And maybe he already has had that air-clearing meeting behind closed doors. But one thing is for certain, this situation with Murray is sticky. The Eagles have a talented back that they can't seem to get working for them. So whatever meeting needs to take place to get Murray and the Eagles on the same page, that meeting needs to happen, and it needs to happen now.
