Did Aaron Rodgers try to elbow Falcons LB Vic Beasley in the groin?
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers didn’t miss on much Sunday, but he might end up being happy that he fell short on one attempt – the one in which he almost hit Atlanta Falcons linebacker Vic Beasley in the groin.
Midway through the second quarter of the Packers’ 33-32 loss, Beasley sacked Rodgers on third-and-8, and Rodgers apparently didn’t take kindly to Beasley taking his time to get off of the quarterback. That prompted Rodgers – see the video above – to throw an elbow between Beasley’s legs.
The elbow didn’t connect – which will keep Rodgers from getting a fine – but it’s certainly a rare look for an NFL quarterback to attempt such a jab against a player who will be chasing him around the field all day.
Rodgers had perhaps his best game of the year in the loss – completing 28 of 38 passes for 246 yards and four touchdowns despite playing without a bevy of injured skill position players – but if he had made contact with Beasley this might have been the play everyone remembered most.
