Denard Robinson fantasy football: Can Chris Ivory's absence open the door?
Denard Robinson fantasy football hype hit its peak a couple of years ago when he looked like the future starter for the Jacksonville Jaguars, but now even an injury to co-starter Chris Ivory isn’t enough to boost his stock.
In need of a running back for Week 2 already? If you’re one of those fantasy football owners that likes to tinker with his roster (and who isn’t) then it may be tempting to take a chance on someone who needs to prove himself.
With Chris Ivory set to miss his second-straight game, Denard Robinson will see an increased workload. Will it be enough to matter in your fantasy football matchup, though?
Don’t count on it.
T.J. Yeldon figures to be the primary back with Ivory missing the Week 2 game against the San Diego Chargers. Even with just 39 yards on 21 carries in Week 1, don’t expect Robinson to be a major factor. Robinson had three totes in that game too, for a whopping seven yards.
Aside from Robinson’s issues holding onto the ball (eight fumbles in three seasons), he simply hasn’t delivered in recent efforts. His 10.4 attempts per game in 2014 have been whittled down to just 5.2 in 2015 (backing up Yeldon) and probably won’t go that high again.
While it may be depressing to think of the former Michigan stud as an afterthought despite all of his pure athleticism and raw talent, don’t let that affect your fantasy football team. Robinson could be a tempting option for those owners who need running back help, but he probably won’t be much of a factor for a running game that is capable of being carried by 2015 workhorse T.J. Yeldon.
