Dallas Cowboys @ Green Bay Packers: A Quick Game Preview

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

We give a quick preview of the Dallas Cowboys Week Six matchup against the Green Bay Packers at a place America’s Team has struggled, Lambeau Field.

The Dallas Cowboys look to continue their roll when they travel to Lambeau Field Sunday to take on the Green Bay Packers in a battle of one-loss teams. The Cowboys are carrying a four game win streak to Wisconsin, while the Packers have won their previous two after starting 1-1.

For the third time in as many seasons, these two are squaring off at the scene of the most controversial plays in recent NFL history. Whether or not you believe it was a catch (it was), Sunday’s game will conjure up bad memories for how the last successful season ended in Green Bay.

The Cowboys are 0 for 2 in their last two trips north. Though Dallas didn’t have much of a fighting chance with Matt Cassel quarterbacking the eventual 4-12 team in last season’s visit to Lambeau (28-7 loss in Week 14).

While they’re on their third quarterback in as many tries against the Packers, Cowboys fans have to be more comfortable heading into this particular game with the recent play of quarterback Dak Prescott. The rookie quarterback has been setting the league on fire, enough to the point where many don’t want to see starting quarterback Tony Romo return to the field.

Meanwhile on the other side, Aaron Rodgers has not been his usual dominant self recently, on pace for his worst season of his NFL career. Despite that, at the end of the day he is still Aaron Rodgers and is more than capable of torching any defense he faces, it’ll be interesting to see if the Cowboys defense can keep up their recent hot streak.

The biggest storyline to watch in this one will be the matchup between the best rush offense in the league and the best rush defense in the league. The Packers top rated rushing defense will look to slow down rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott and the Cowboys incredibly dominant offensive line. This will be a prime example of old school football, and whoever wins in the trenches will hand the other their second loss of the season.

Sunday afternoon will prove to be the Cowboys biggest test of the 2016 season so far, and if the team can finally end their bad luck at Lambeau, it can set the tone for the rest of the season heading into the bye.
