Cowherd on Browns trade: 'God Cleveland, you would screw up your own funeral'
The Cleveland Browns traded the No. 2 pick in the NFL Draft to the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday, and Colin Cowherd didn't like the deal for either team.
The Browns, he lamented, just gave up their chance to draft a franchise quarterback, and didn't get enough in exchange.
"The Browns get a worse first-round pick (No. 8), they swap a fourth ... so in essence, all the Browns got for a franchise quarterback was a third-round pick, 72nd, a first-round pick next year and a second-round pick two years from now? That's it? That's all you got? ...
"God, Cleveland, you would screw up your own funeral."
Colin didn't think the Eagles did any better, making a move that he says he saw coming.
"I predicted that because of the resentment toward Chip Kelly, the Philadelphia Eagles would overcompensate to prove they don't need Chip Kelly and they would sell the farm and they would move up past a point I would be comfortable with."
Colin then explained why he thought the Rams' trade for the No. 1 pick made sense, and why it didn't make sense for Philly to move up.
"Philadelphia's got an atrocious defense, no star running back, not a veteran head coach..." he said.
"This Philadelphia roster right now is not very good. And so a young quarterback's gonna come in, (Philly's) not gonna have many picks in the next couple years, and he doesn't have much around him."
Colin wasn't the only one criticizing the move. Eagles fans were pretty unhappy, and QB Sam Bradford reportedly was, too.
According to Peter Schrager's latest mock draft, the Rams will take Jared Goff No. 1 and the Eagles will then take Carson Wentz, whom Phil Simms calls the top QB in the draft.
FOX Sports' Dieter Kurtenbach, however, explains why both teams made a move that defies logic in trading up to get them.
