Cowboys WR Austin, Rams DE Hayes leave injured

Published Sep. 22, 2013 4:47 p.m. ET

Dallas Cowboys receiver Miles Austin sustained a hamstring injury in Sunday's game against St. Louis.

The team announced the injury soon after Austin came down hard while trying to make a leaping catch along the sideline in the third quarter.

Rams backup defensive end William Hayes, who had been dealing with a hip problem, came out of the game in the first half because of a knee injury. He was apparently hurt while playing special teams on a punt return.

Austin missed six games because of hamstring problems in 2011 and dealt with the issue again last season, when he missed only one game.
