Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says it may take a deadline like the start of the 2011 NFL season to get a new collective bargaining agreement.
Jones said Tuesday the angst and tension of a fall without football could generate the urgency to get a decision made.
He said artificial deadlines don't work.
At a Super Bowl news conference, Jones said fans should not think about offseason workouts getting scuttled because of the expiring labor deal. He said they should focus on the question of ''are we going to be playing in the fall.''
