Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory reportedly out of rehab
The Dallas Cowboys received some good news one day after their deflating Week 1 loss to the Giants. Suspended defensive end Randy Gregory was released from rehab and is back in Dallas, the Star-Telegram reported Monday.
The team officially moved Gregory from the reserve/did not report list to the reserve/suspended list. Though he still can't practice with the team, the second-year pro can participate in team meetings and work out in the weight room.
Despite the positive step Monday, Gregory is still stuck in limbo. He received a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy from an incident in February, but the league could increase the penalty to 10 games for failing another test.
"I don't want to be presumptuous. I don't want to be anything," owner Jerry Jones said Sunday. "I know that he's had a lot of good care, and he's been very conscientious about how he has approached this period of time when he's been in his rehab. He's been very conscientious. I wouldn't dare influence what is decided. They've got all the data, got all of his activity, and it's under league and their supervision in that way. So that's it."
Gregory fell to the second round in the 2015 draft after testing positive for marijuana at the combine. He played in 12 games as a rookie last year but failed to record a sack.
