Could Evan Mathis be an option for the Oakland Raiders?
Evan Mathis, a former All-Pro guard with the Philadelphia Eagles, just hit the open market.
The Raiders could give Mathis what he desires most -- money, and lots of it.
According to ESPN, Oakland's $16.9 million in remaining cap space is sixth-best in the NFL. That financial freedom led NFL Media's Gregg Rosenthal to link Mathis to the Silver and Black.
The ex-Eagle would immediately upgrade offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave's line. And Musgrave already has a working relationship with Mathis after spending last season in Philly himself.
Oakland seems set on surrounding QB Derek Carr with all the tools he needs. Mathis would be an unexpected, albeit welcome addition.
