Colts remain hopeful Luck will play in matchup against Jets

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Coach Chuck Pagano says the Indianapolis Colts are optimistic Andrew Luck will play next Monday night against the New York Jets after missing Thursday's game with a concussion.

The Colts' star quarterback was injured in a Nov. 20 victory over Tennessee and was not cleared from the concussion protocol in time to play against Pittsburgh.

Luck said Monday that he feels healthy and believes the next step is to complete a regular practice Wednesday and be cleared by an independent doctor.

He missed nine games last season with multiple injuries including a lacerated kidney and had played in every game this season until Thursday despite being sacked a league-high 35 times. Luck said it's the first time he's been diagnosed with a concussion.
