Colts Injury Report: Darius Butler Back, While Right Side of Offensive Line Returns

The Indianapolis Colts actually received mostly encouraging news in practice this week, as key cornerback Darius Butler (hamstring), as well as starting offensive lineman Denzelle Good (back) and Joe Reitz (back) were all full participants in practice on Friday–having largely been limited participants prior.

While head coach Chuck Pagano said he’ll start his “best 5” along the offensive line–with rookie Joe Haeg likely also being in the mix for retaining a starting job on the right side, it appears that at least one of Good or Reitz will be inserted back into the starting lineup, which figures to be a significant upgrade over last weekend’s poor pass protection.

However, it hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows along the offensive line for the Colts this week, as interior backup offensive lineman Jonotthan Harrison is still out recovering from an emergency appendectomy.

Meanwhile, veteran pass rusher Robert Mathis has been dealing with a ‘physical issue’ and is officially listed as ‘questionable’ with a foot injury–having not practiced Friday. The 35 year old has no sacks in 4 games on the season and has clearly lost some of his once highly regarded speed and explosion off the edge–whether to age or injury.

Otherwise, Donte Moncrief is still ‘week-to-week’ with a shoulder injury, and it could likely still be another week or two until his return, while primary backup running back Robert Turbin has not practiced all week with a ‘wrist and shoulder’ injury–being officially labeled as ‘questionable’.

For this time of year–and given how this season has gone prior, it appears that the Colts are actually relatively healthy on the injury report for once.
