Colts at Broncos: Behind Enemy Lines
The Indianapolis Colts head out west to face the Denver Broncos this week. The Colts have won three of the last four against the Broncos and are hoping to bounce back from a last second Week 1 loss.
With the Colts (0-1) facing the Broncos (1-0) this week, we spoke with Predominantly Orange to get some inside information on this week’s opponent. I spoke with editor Ty Walden to get the goods on the Broncos before game time.
Here’s what Walden had to say:
1. What are the expectations for Trevor Siemian this season? How far do you think he can take this team?
The expectations for Trevor Siemian is just to simply play the position and not turn the football over. He does not need to be spectacular like Peyton Manning in his prime. The running game and defense should be able to carry the majority of the workload. If he can go above and beyond his expectations, then this could be a dangerous team. Whomever the Denver Broncos quarterback is, I will fully be behind and support.
2. The defense was incredible last season but lost a few key pieces and can’t be expected to carry as much of the burden as the did in 2015. What is your prediction for the defense this season?

I think the defense will be even better this season. Last year was only the first year under Coach Wade Phillips. The fact that they did so well in his first year only shows how much potential he can bring out of this defense. Despite losing Danny Trevathan and Malik Jackson, they have filled the open spots in nicely with Jared Crick and Todd Davis. Both of those players did well in the opening game against Carolina. Once the team gets gelled together, this could be a dominate force yet again.
3. With the Colts taking three of the past four meetings, what do you believe the Broncos need to do to come away with a win on Sunday?
Minus the AFC Divisional Game, the other three meetings have been decided by three points each. The two losses the Broncos suffered in Indianapolis were due to slow starts during that span. The Mile High crowd should be able to help out as the team is almost unbeatable at home. The Colts defense is not looking good on the injury front, so this could come down to how the Broncos offense does against a possibly depleted defense.
4. Is there a player on the team that most people might not know but will be a difference maker in 2016 (aside from Siemian)?
I say the one player that could be a difference maker for the Broncos is ILB Todd Davis. He quietly had a solid game against the Panthers. (Seven Tackles, Half a Sack) He is the replacement for Trevathan and I believe that he could be a solid member and underrated player on that Broncos defense. Now that he is getting a chance to start, I see him taking full advantage.
5. Who comes out with a win on Sunday and why?
