Coaches' Corner: How Tomlin can rally Pittsburgh into the postseason

BY foxsports • December 19, 2014

Head coach Mike Tomlin and his Pittsburgh Steelers have won three of their last four games.

Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs are seeking a second playoff appearance in a row. The Chiefs are in the thick of the AFC wild-card hunt, one game behind Pittsburgh and Baltimore

Both teams have been inconsistent. Coach Tomlin knows for once it is not about the 'D' in Pittsburgh -- it's all about the four Bs: Brown, Bell and Big Ben.

Tomlin needs to rally the troops. This is a rare instance of how a team plays based on the coach's vigor and enthusiasm. The majority of coaches do not have this power to woo their team. Tomlin does.

First and foremost, the offensive line needs to protect Big Ben, especially with Justin Houston coming to town with his NFL-leading 17 sacks. The Steelers, meanwhile, are giving up just over two sacks a game, surrendering 32 thus far.

If Tomlin can focus on keeping Big Ben out of danger while opening up holes for Le'veon Bell the Steelers will come away with a much-needed win and a playoff appearance for the first time since 2011.
