Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin avoids torn ACL, sustains high ankle sprain
The Kansas City Chiefs might not have wide receiver Jeremy Maclin available next week, but they avoided a long-term disaster.
Maclin didn't tear his ACL, but suffered a high ankle sprain, the team announced on Sunday.
Maclin's status is uncertain against the New England Patriots, The veteran wide receiver was carted off the field in Saturday's game against the Houston Texans.
Head coach Andy Reid said after the game that Maclin strained his knee and would have an MRI on Sunday.
Maclin has previously torn his ACL in his right knee twice -- with the Eagles in 2013 and the University of Missouri in 2009.
