Chiefs' HOFer Will Shields is just a gigantic theater nerd

Before he was a dominant staple of the Chiefs' offense, Will Shields was just a huge theater nerd.

Huge in admiration. And huge in size -- the Hall of Famer was 260 pounds in high school.

"People used to think twice when you have, at that point, a 260 pound man break out into song in show choir and jazz choir and in the school plays," Shields revealed during his Hall of Fame speech on Saturday.

It's almost too bizarre to be true. After all, Shields manhandled defensive linemen for 14 dominant seasons.

His induction speech wasn't just a final send-off, though. Shields, a jazz-singing Hall of Fame guard, implored his crowd to accept each others' differences.

“Yes, I’m a drama queen," the 43-year-old admitted. "That’s what we like to do, sing and dance and have fun.”
