Chiefs getting no respect vs. Steelers
The Kansas City Chiefs are sizable underdogs this Sunday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Fair or foul?
After clobbering the New York Jets, it would make sense to give the Chiefs some respect as a 2-1 team. It would make even more considering the Steelers just got hammered 34-3 by the Philadelphia Eagles, dropping them to 2-1 on the year.
However, Vegas doesn’t see it that way. The line for Sunday’s game is at 5.5 points, favoring Pittsburgh to drop Kansas City. Now, the game is in Heinz Field, which means the Steelers automatically get three points. Basically, Vegas is saying that the Chiefs would be a 2.5-point dog if the game was at a neutral sight, and that they would be a 1-point favorite in Arrowhead.
I have to admit, the line surprised me. I thought it would come in around 3.5 to 4 points, which is still saying Pittsburgh is the slightly better team. It will be interesting to see how the line moves throughout the week, especially with so many players potentially injured for the Steelers.
Perhaps the oddsmarkers think the Chiefs got lucky this weekend, scoring 14 points directly off turnovers while getting six others. That would be fair, although Kansas City deserves a good deal of credit for forcing many of them.
What do you say, Addicts? Fair?
