Chicago Bears GM Ryan Pace big on keeping a close-knit group

After last season's abysmal, 5-11 finish, the Chicago Bears completely rebuilt their front office and coaching staff. General manager Phil Emery and head coach Marc Trestman were replaced by Ryan Pace and John Fox, respectively.

For the Bears' new hires to be successful, they must instill a fresh philosophy. To Pace, that means creating a certain closeness between members of the front office and coaching staff.

"I'm a big proponent of our coaches and personnel department [being] together," Pace told Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times. "It's talking about your families and getting to know someone and letting loose."

Members of the Bears' personnel department will be attending training camp with the rest of the team, according to the Sun-Times. This won't be the first time Chicago's scouts, executives and coaches get together, though.

Earlier this summer, the Sun-Times reports, members of the Bears' front office and coaching staff, plus their wives, traveled together for a three-night stay at an all-inclusive resort in Cancun, Mexico. The vacation's competitive activities included skeet-shooting, archery, zip-lining and fly-fishing.

It'll be interesting to see if this bonding will result in a better Bears team moving forward.
