Chargers have Philip Rivers, but not much QB depth after that

San Diego once clinched a spot in the AFC Championship game with a backup QB at the helm.
The Billy Volek came and went. But the Chargers have been searching for a capable QB2 ever since -- and they still might not own one.
Second-string passer Kellen Clemens looked anything but a 10-year veteran against the Dallas Cowboys. His milquetoast outing was highlighted by "happy feet" and a refusal to use them to climb the pocket. He finished an uninspiring 5-for-10.
Clemens' backup was more of the same. Brad Sorensen, who flashed promise a preseason ago, finished 4-for-8.
Philip Rivers is amazingly durable and fourth on the all-time quarterback starts list. He's also 33 years old -- a replacement doesn't need to be groomed just yet, but a capable backup would sure help.
