Champ Bailey: 'I don't think Tom Brady should have been suspended'
Tom Brady backers outside of Foxboro can be hard to find these days, but in a matter of one week, he's found a few big-name supporters. On Wednesday, former NFL quarterback Joe Theismann came out and defended the New England Patriots' quarterback, saying he doesn't believe Brady should be suspended.
Thursday on Fox Sports Live, a future Hall of Fame cornerback came to Brady's defense, as well. Champ Bailey, who picked off Brady and returned it 99 yards in the 2006 AFC Divisional game, doesn't believe Tom should be suspended, either.
"In the beginning, I don't think Tom Brady should have been suspended," Bailey said. "Maybe fined, but not suspended."
Handing Brady a fine instead of a suspension seems to be the popular opinion among many, and does make sense. Brady should be punished in one way or another for his lack of cooperation throughout the process, but like Bailey said, "four games is a little harsh for something you think he did."
