Cardinals' tight end position murky to begin training camp

BY foxsports • July 31, 2015

The Cardinals' tight end position isn't in the best shape to start training camp.

New addition Jermaine Gresham is on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list as he recovers from offseason back surgery. Troy Niklas was placed on the non-football injury (NFI) list with a hamstring injury.

Niklas' rookie season was marred by injuries. He missed offseason practices to recover from hernia surgery, then suffered a broken hand that put him out of action until training camp. His season ultimately ended after re-spraining his ankle. Even now, he allowed his ankle isn't quite 100 percent.

So to start, second-year player Darren Fells will see a majority of the work as camp gets underway. Fells appeared in 10 games in 2014 and hauled in five passes for 71 yards in his rookie campaign. He caught his first career touchdown pass in the postseason against the Carolina Panthers.
