Cardinals QB leaves game with head injury

Published Dec. 13, 2011 5:21 p.m. ET

Arizona quarterback Kevin Kolb left Sunday's game against San Francisco after the first series following a blow to the head.

Kolb was hurt when he was hit as he tried to throw on a third-down play. He fumbled, but the Cardinals recovered. He was replaced by John Skelton, who threw three interceptions and was benched after three quarters in Arizona's 23-7 loss at San Francisco on Nov. 20.

Kolb was making his second start after missing four games with a right turf toe and bruise to the side of the same foot. The team announced early in the third quarter that Kolb would not return.
