Cardinals' Floyd shakes off another injury to continue resurgence
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Floyd appears primed for a strong finish to the season after overcoming a pair of injuries.
Floyd battled back from a hamstring ailment that forced him to miss one game and limited him in another to haul in seven receptions for 104 yards in Sunday's 27-3 victory at the St. Louis Rams. The fourth-year wideout enters Thursday night's matchup against the visiting Minnesots Vikings with three 100-yard performance in his last four contests.
"I think the sky’s the limit for him,” Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer said. “I think what you want to see is improvement, and I think he’s gotten better from last year. I still think he’s got a way to go and he’ll get there. He can be as good as any receiver in this league.”
Floyd suffered three dislocated fingers during the preseason and had to undergo surgery, which made him a bit player in Arizona's vaunted passing attack over the first month. He was limited to one catch or less in four of the first five games.
Once healthy, Floyd rebounded with five touchdown receptions in a four-game span, capped by back-to-back 100-yard efforts in wins at Cleveland and Seattle before he hurt his hamstring. He was back at full strength Sunday and was targeted a season-high 12 times by Palmer.
“We legitimately have six guys that can really beat you," veteran Larry Fitzgerald said of Arizona's receiving corps. "I think we have the deepest group in the game.”
